Bluestone treads, especially Select Blue Treads, are one of the many specialty items that Flynn Stone Design & Fabrication is known for. Our bluestone treads all come from our quarry located in Northeast Pennsylvania, and fabricated within our own facilities ensuring the best prices on highest quality treads available.
Although we have standardized sizes, and purchasing in these sizes is the best way to keep within your development budget, you should also know that we are a specialty stone supplier. Bluestone Tread Applications
Bluestone treads are most often used in the front entrances to a home, but can be used anywhere that a clean and elegant look for your steps is desired. When given a rounded bull nose we have supplied treads for pool surrounds which makes an otherwise typical pool look like something luxurious and sophisticated.
Bluestone treads are also a great way to dress up and provide contrast against natural settings that may feel rustic than the aesthetic you desire, and although most commonly used in the exterior of the home, we’ve also seen them used in larger residences or common areas of condominiums.
Bluestone Tread Colors
There is no functional rule that says that bluestone treads can’t be fabricated with full range stone, they are most commonly in select blue. Select blue compliments the elegant clean lines and is therefore the most desirable.
Bluestone Tread Finishes
For similar reasons to the color, treads are most often installed with a smooth thermal or sand blasted finish which creates the most elegant lines and cleanest look. For those who would like a more natural look, a chiseled rock or tumbled finish can also be provided, and as noted above, a bull nose facing can also be provided if you would like to use it to surround pools, ponds, or hot tubs.
Bluestone Treads Sizes
If you are in the planning stages of your project, or if time is of the essence, we recommend considering our standardized sizes as this will be the most economical. Our bluestone treads come in depths of 12”, 14”, 16”, 18”, 20”, and 24” and in lengths of 36”, 48”, 60”, 72”, 84”, and 96”. Standard tread thicknesses range from 1”- 3”.
